Eric P. Trawick, MD, FASGE
Dr. Eric Trawick, MD, FASGE, a native of Vinton, La., completed medical school at LSU-Shreveport. During medical school, he demonstrated a strong work ethic and leadership skills in many ways, serving as both class president and as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society. Dr. Trawick was also the recipient of both the Aaron Selber, Jr. Leadership Award and the Nathan Bernstein Scholarship Award for Academic Excellence.
After medical school, Dr. Trawick completed his Internal Medicine Residency, Gastroenterology Fellowship and Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. While at Vanderbilt, he served on the Resident Advisory Committee and received the Richard P. Schneider Teaching Award.
Dr. Trawick has achieved fellowship status for the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. The FASGE or Fellow designation signifies an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of Endoscopy. Dr. Trawick is counted amongst only 888 members globally to receive the designation and only 1 of 5 in Louisiana (as of 3/2020).
Dr. Trawick is also the only physician in Southwest Louisiana who has completed an Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship. This full year of extra training allows him to provide an extended line of specialized GI services for patients, including:
- Barrett’s Esophagus Ablation
- Endoscopic Mucosal Resection
- Endoscopic Weight-Loss treatments
- Enteral Stenting
- EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound)
- Therapeutic ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)
- Over-the Scope Closure Devices
In addition to his practice at The Gastro Clinic, Dr. Trawick is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine-Gratis for LSUHSC New Orleans and is responsible for training residents in Internal Medicine.
When he’s not practicing, Dr. Trawick and his wife of almost 20 years, Sara, love the outdoors, kayaking, hiking, playing tennis and visiting national parks with their three children. He’s also an active member of his church and a coach for his kids’ basketball teams.
